Vecka ett

If you're wondering what 'Vecka ett' means in the title, it means Week one!

Before IP officially started, we explored the area around our school and here's a picture taken when we first arrived!

Thomson and I who are attached to Rödabergsskolan

Stockholm, Sweden has been great so far, and Rödabergsskolan has been amazing too! Everyone in the school is very welcoming and I love my CT! He's really energetic and has very good rapport with the students, something I want to learn as much as I can within these few weeks.

A difference between my school here and the Singaporean primary schools is that one primary school teacher gets his own classroom and can decorate it however he likes. His form class then uses his classroom for most of their lessons - of course, he teaches most of the subjects for his form class as well.

Anyway, my CT used to be an art major so his classroom is real aesthetic, there're students' work hanging everywhere with many colours and materials/resources for students to use. Even his timetable for his form class looks like a poster ripped right off a magazine - and I love it! I think this is a really good way to brighten school life and make attending classes fun, rather than just a boring repetitive black and white excel table that shouts 'routine'.

Here's a picture of the class timetable!

And here're more pictures I took of the school:

5 en! (Primary 5)

Timetable on the doors of every class, and some posters of an upcoming concert in school

Student trying to learn Japanese from an online language application 'Rosettastone' (there're iPads in the class for students to use for research)

Student doing research on a social studies project (and yes, they also have 5 computers in the back of their classroom!)

My CT's newsletter to students and parents at the back of the class

Walkway in school with lockers for seniors (Secondary)

Went to sewing class with my class and wow they're good! (better than I am haha)

And school's out! How can I forget the group of us student teachers exploring in our free time? Here we go!

Our accoms @ IDUN!

Visiting the Stockholm Palace!

Dinner underground at a restaurant near the Palace

A picture of the girls in the Stockholm Palace

Love Stockholm, missing home, and can't wait for more adventures and learning to come.

Till next time!

Signing off,
Zhou Yu

  1. I like the idea of publishing your own newsletter to parents - keep them informed what you are doing and how their children are doing in class. Something that you can consider when you become a BT.
